ALL AT SEA – Bring diving gear, Charlotte!
Golly gosh, we were waterlogged before we even left the Green! Knowing the propensity for this area to store water our intrepid hare did reasonably well to find occasional sqidgy bits amongst the waterlogged parts.
Somewhere along the trail a group of us seemed to depart from the main pack, but FRB was confident that were were still on trail, until we were not. Had we been gassing too much again? He did
manage to lead us on fresh blobs for a while, but then in desperation he pointed to traces of flour that had clearly been laid some weeks ago, so we decided to make it up and circle back in the general direction from whence we came. The adventurous group of FRB, Dr Death, Bonn Bugle, Hash Flash & Petal crossed streams, bridges, and wallowed in mud, to a contrant stream of complaints from Dr Death.
Back at the circle it was all about Burns & whisky of course. The Spare GM delivered her Roast of Le Pro (see below) and expressed huge reservations about Masterbates’ Burnsesque ode to a mouse, which was delivered in quite a convincing Scottish brogue and seemed to go down well (or is that just a personal observation)?
Lord Raleigh sent me a little video of a babbling brook in White Hart Lane, perhaps to prove that he went offf on trail and didn’t just wait for us all to return while playing his harmonica.
The t(r)oast of Le Pro
Hashers, Harriettes, and Le Pro,
We apparently we are to celebrate Robbie Burns — poet, pisshead, and professional bad influence — a man who slept around, mocked authority, and proved if you drink hard enough and die young, people will call it genius.
Burns believed all men were created equal.
Which is why today, even Le Pro is treated just like the rest of us.
Despite years of effort, opinions, Burns would have still taken one look at Le Pro and said:
‘Aye… same mess, just louder.’
Le Pro presents us today with the sacred haggis: A steaming bag of mystery meat: a dish invented to prove the Scots would eat literally anything
as long as it’s hot, brown, and of course, served with whisky.
The haggis is dragged out with ceremony, stabbed for tradition,
and applauded despite very few actually liking it –
much like Le Pro when he was an RA.
Like Le Pro, the haggis looks confident and vaguely appealing on the outside
but raises questions once open.
The haggis will be washed down with whisky —
a drink so strong it makes Burns sound profound
and makes Le Pro’s opinions loud and believe he has yet again nailed it with the Surrey hash for another year
So raise your glasses,
shout words you don’t understand,
spill drink on someone else, preferably Le Pro,
and remember the true message of Burns :
Man to man, the world o’er,
we’re all equal…
but Le Pro is buying the first round……..

Charity Update
Since December 2024 we have raised the following amounts for our two charities as follows:- £680 towards cataract operations in Uganda and £700 towards projects for the Uganda School (plus £41 so far towards this year’s fundraising).
I want to take this opportunity of thanking the following for their efforts last year:-
The ‘anonymous’ donors for their generosity
Lord Raleigh for his auctions
J.Arthur for his ‘vegetables, jams etc. sales
Tec for his home made cider sales
All the above have helped so much to ‘boost the coffers’ and much appreciated, thank you for your support.
Last but not least thank you all for buying the above (and the inevitable books/jigsaws etc.). If anyone has any ideas on fund raising, I would sooo appreciate your input.
