May 2026 – Surrey Hash Spring getaway
SBJ, Blue Suit and RHUM are looking into the possibility of a spring getaway in the wonderful New Forest. There is availability at the Sandy Balls Holiday Village which is surrounded by hashing heaven countryside and has pubs on the doorstep plus excellent facilities.
We are thinking week commencing 11 May for one or two nights (the weekend is probably too expensive and most of the hash is retired anyway). The cost for the accommodation is circa £100 a night per person sharing lodges.
Have a look at the website and let me know if there is any interest? Please let us know here: Expression of Interest.
19-20 September 2026 – Eskimo’s Big Birthday celebration in Hastings
Eskimo has booked the Shear Barn campsite Main Restaurant exclusively for the party on Saturday 19th September.
She will be asking for numbers closer to the time as she will be booking food and putting a certain amount of money behind the bar.
It will be a weekend away with a ‘hangover run’ on Sunday 20th.
The idea will be that people camp or hire a lodge at Shear Barn or book their own accommodation in Old Hastings (taxi approx. £6 or can walk to the campsite – the party venue).
4 – 8 September 2026 – SH3 European Escape to Provence
Following are updated details for the proposed trip to Provence from 4 – 8 September 2026. Please note the urgency of gaining a firm commitment and payment of a deposit by the end of this month.
There are different types of accommodation, so the initial deposit will depend on your chosen option. If you intend to opt for the more luxurious facilities (duplex/studio) you should pay a deposit of £200 per person. Alternatively pay £100 per person for the shared accommodation. Once we get a better idea of total numbers we can adjust later when further payments will be required. Please read the details below (note that final costs are indicative at this stage). Check out the resort website if you wish:

UPDATE FROM BIGFOOT
Extended details/costings:
Note that the ‘Mas du Chene‘ the separate and lower cost villa, that slept 8 (4 rooms) has been sold and will no longer be available. The disparity between lower cost rooms and higher cost rooms thus increases. Bigfoot suggests that now, rather than a flat rate, people pay for what they get. A bit more complicated for pricing, but fair, and reflecting people on a variety of budgets.
Most rooms can be switched between a double bed or two singles. There may be plenty of single hashers attending, so they can choose a friend to share with, thus halving the cost of the room/apartment. Costs below are all set out, PER PERSON for four nights’ accommodation assuming 2 people per room.
In order to provide beer, wine and some food (bread, cheeses, pates, saucisson, fruit, some meal ingredients, etc, etc), I am also adding 20 Euros (total, not per night) to each person’s cost over the 4 days. These basic foods and drink will be spread between one or two central diner/kitchens. This should also cover for On On BBQ onsite. This will also help us cover the 64 Euro tourist tax lump sum, separate from accommodation costs. Other costs, such as eating out, are for the individual to pay. I think 20 Euros per person for On On, and accommodation foods and drinks will be enough, but if it is not may have to ask for a further 5 or 10 Euros per person on the weekend.
So we have 3 types of accommodation cost to present.
- Veranda– this is the central house / diner / living room that leads on to the large terrace. Upstairs there are 4 double/twin rooms for 8 people. Total cost of this accommodation is 1500 Euros for 4 nights. This is 187.50 Euros per person + 20 Euros expenses = 207.50 Euros = £180 at 0.87 exchange. Works out at £45 per person per night.
- St Cezaireand Cabris – these are both balcony apartments with 3 bedrooms each, so each sleeps 6. Total cost of this accommodation is 1040 Euros for 4 nights. This is 173.33 Euros per person + 20 Euros expenses = 193.33 Euros = £168 at 0.87 exchange. Works out at £42 per person per night.
Now the expensive duplex apartments with inclusive living room downstairs, bedroom upstairs. They include convertible double sofa-bed in the downstairs living room for an extra guest (or two), but less privacy. Also include balcony with own built-in BBQ.
- Eze, Grasse, Nice, Theoule, Antibes, St Tropez. Each a double or twin. Total cost of this accommodation is 740 Euros for 4 nights. This is 375 Euros per person (assuming only 2 people occupy each apartment) + 20 Euros expenses = 395 Euros = £344at 0.87 exchange. Works out at £86 per person per night.
- Cannes– a garden studio with a double bed (no twin option). Total cost of this accommodation is 740 Euros for 4 nights. This is 375 Euros per person (assuming only 2 people occupy each apartment) + 20 Euros expenses = 395 Euros = £344 at 0.87 exchange. Works out at £86 per person per night.
So all adds up to 32 pax, unless we start using the sofa-bed options, to increase numbers (among close friends) in the apartments.
Mee Sing and I are happy to take whatever accommodation suits to fill a gap, either a cheaper room, or a pricier double apartment. 1, 2, 3 or 4 above.
